3M™ Solar RPM
3M Solar Road Studs—also classified as Solar Raised Pavement Markers (RPMs) or solar cat eyes—provide active, high-visibility guidance to drivers in low-light, rainy, or hazardous weather conditions. Unlike passive reflective studs that rely entirely on vehicle headlights, these solar markers utilize integrated solar cells to charge an internal battery during daylight hours and automatically emit flashing or steady LED illumination at night.
Solar Raised Pavement Marker
- Uses 3M light guide technology for 360 degree & 80Om minimum visibility as per lvloRTH specification
- 1.5X more compressive strength than minimum requirement as per MoRTH specification
- lmproved anchorage to road through double shank and base design
- Water/dust ingress protection with lP68 rating
- Meets and exceeds N/oRTH specification
- Clear visibility in foggy and rainy conditions
- Shelf life of 12 months from date of manufacturing
- Blinking rate more than 1.25 Hertz
- 3M retro-refiective lens for visihrility in passive mode
Specification
Solar Raised Pavement markers made out of polycarbonate molded body with circular
share, solar powered, LED self-illumination in active mode, 360-degree illumination
and reflective panels with micro prismatic lens capable of providing total internal
reflection of the light entering the lens face in passive mode. The marker shall support
load of 20,000 kg(minimum) tested in accordance to ASTM D 4280. The marker
should be resistant to dust and water ingress according to IP 65 standards and should
withstand temperatures in the range of 0 C to 70 C. Typical frequency of blinking is 1
Hz. There should be current losses of less than 20 micro amperes at 2.4V in sleep
charging mode to enhance the life of the marker and a full charge should provide for
minimum autonomy of 50 hours. The height, width and length shall not be less than
10 mm x 100 mm x 100 mm. Also, the surface diameter of the marker shall not be less
than 100 mm respectively. The weight of the marker shall not exceed 0.5 kilograms.
Fixing will be done by drilling holes on the road for the shanks to go inside, without
nails and using epoxy resin based adhesive and complete as directed by the engineer.
The solar shall be tested for Compression strength of 20000 Kg, IP 65 rating, Blinking
frequency from government lab (CRRI/ARAI/ICAT/CPRI or certificate for compression
strength test
